The Verse of the Red Dust
Philosophical Summary
'The wind tries to blow the red dust away, but it only spreads it further. Divined for the one who tried to bury the truth, only to find it growing like a tree.' This verse teaches that truth is 'resounding' and cannot be silenced by effort.
Interpretation
Ogbè Ìrosùn teaches that 'The Truth' is like red laterite dust—it stains everything it touches. To attempt to 'bury' a transgression in this Odu is to ensure its eventual growth into a public spectacle. The 'Red Dust' represents the ancestral eyes that see through all attempts at concealment. It instructs the client that transparency is the only path to peace, as the weight of the lie will eventually 'resound' (Ìrosùn) through their life until it is addressed.
