During the very earliest stages of human existence on Earth, the first people were severely handicapped—they lacked the capacity for true sight (Ojú). They walked the earth basically blind, entirely unable to distinguish between a massive, solid tree and an immaterial spirit, or between nourishing food and fatal poison. Because they could not perceive their reality, they lived in constant, agonizing terror and stumbled through life. Witnessing their profound suffering, the Great Seer Odù, Ìwòrì Méjì, ascended to the heavens and bravely went before the Supreme Creator, Olódùmarè. Ìwòrì Méjì intensely pleaded the case for humanity, asking for a radical new gift to aid the struggling children. Impressed by Ìwòrì Méjì's deep compassion and advocacy, Olódùmarè graciously bestowed the 'seeds of light.' When Ìwòrì Méjì brought these divine seeds down to Earth, they miraculously formed into human eyes. With these eyes, humanity was suddenly granted the incredible ability not only to physically navigate their dangerous environment safely but also to gradually learn the much deeper, spiritual sight—the capacity to recognize the 'fire' or spiritual energy (Àṣẹ) inside all living things. Because of this massive intervention, Ìwòrì Méjì is universally recognized as the absolute owner of piercing insight, clairvoyance, and the profound capacity to distinguish truth from illusion.

Early humans lived in vertical darkness, unable to distinguish fire from breeze or food from poison. Ìwòrì Méjì, the 'Deep Miner,' petitioned Olódùmarè for a structural upgrade. Olódùmarè granted 'seeds of light' which Ìwòrì Méjì placed in humanity, blooming as eyes. This gift allowed physical navigation and spiritual perception of Àṣẹ.
