To permanently halt the chaos, she made a monumental, sacred covenant directly with Ikú: 'You may cleanly take the physical shell of a human when its vital energy is truly spent and its destined time is legitimately due. But you must leave the shell with me. I will receive it completely. I will patiently, beautifully turn it back into fertile soil and aggressively use it to grow the massive trees and the abundant food that must sustain those who remain alive.' Ikú agreed to this profound regulation, ensuring death would no longer be random terror, but a strictly necessary, cyclical precursor to physical renewal. This absolute covenant is exactly why humanity formally buries its dead within the earth, completing the profound cycle of Ọ̀yẹ̀kú Méjì.
