A story where a hunter became so proud that he thought he could jump over the earth without touching it. He fell and was 'pressed' into the mud until he learned to respect the 'sacred soil.' He performed the sacrifice to Ìretẹ̀ Méjì and became the master of the 'Ground-track,' teaching that victory is found in the detail of the earth.
A legendary hunter once boasted that he was so swift and powerful he no longer needed to touch the ground. He attempted to jump through the forest, landing only on tree branches. However, the earth (Ilẹ̀) felt slighted by his arrogance. On his third jump, the hunter slipped and fell headfirst into deep, heavy mud. He was stuck, unable to move, and forced to look closely at the soil he had mocked. He stayed there until he performed a mental sacrifice of his pride and called upon Ìretẹ̀ Méjì. The earth released him, and he became the greatest tracker, for he now respected every footprint and detail of the ground.
