The Verse of Honest Wealth
Philosophical Summary
The rat that steals the palm nut cannot digest the stone inside. Divined for the one who sought wealth through the shadow rather than the light. This verse serves as a spiritual audit for the seeker of Ogbè Ọ̀bàrà, emphasizing that while the Odu is famous for sudden wealth, that wealth must be grounded in integrity to be permanent.
Interpretation
Ogbè Ọ̀bàrà is the Odu of 'The Enlightened Merchant.' It teaches that in the kingdom of the spirit, currency is character. Deception creates a 'debt' with Eshu that is always paid back with interest through the loss of the very wealth one tried to cheat to obtain. Honesty is the only anchor that keeps Obara's 'pumpkin' of wealth from being stolen or rotting.
Cultural Safety
Standard ethical teaching applicable to business and personal integrity.
