This Ibie verse from the extended IFISM corpus personifies natural forces as clients of Ifa, teaching that even the most ancient and solid things are subject to threats from those who would break them down. The Hoe and Cutlass represent destructive implements (tools of human labor) that seek to reduce the Mountain. The victory of the Mountain through sacrifice is a direct teaching for the Eji Ogbe initiate: your magnitude should not be reduced by the tools others use against you.
